Big Elrathia kingii Wheeler Shale Formation Trilobite

Elrathia kingii

Trilobita, Trilobites Order Ptychopariida, Superfamily Ptychoparioidea, Family Alokistocaridae

Geological Time: Middle Cambrian

Size: 42mm

Fossil Locality: Wheeler Shale Formation , House Range, Millard County, Utah

Elrathia kingii only occurs in the Middle Cambrian House Range of Utah and most predominantly in the Wheeler Shale, where they are very abundantly, and found in dark grey to black, and highly organic shales. They are also commonly found in association with Agnostid trilobites, and almost never with Burgess-Shale like soft bodied fossils found in some layers of the same formations.

This is a particularly fine and large specimen of this Wheeler Shale trilobite.
