Fossil Lagerstatten: Wheeler Shale, Millard County, Utah


fossil algaeTo our knowledge, this Cambrian-time fossil algae hasn't been described. It occurs in the uppermost part of the Wheeler Shale, and is commonly found in association with the Eocrinoid Gogia spiralis. They usually have an " X " shape, but sometimes a " Y " shape or occur as a curved single strand. Th specimen is unusual for the Wheeler Shale in having such excellent contrast.
