Rare Altiocculus Trilobite with Anomalocaris bite marks


Name: Altiocculus harrisi, (formerly: Alokistocare harrisi)

Trilobites Order Ptychopariida, Suborder Ptychopariina, Superfamily Ptychoparioidea, Family Alokistocaridae

Geologic Time: Middle Cambrian

Size (25.4 mm = 1 inch): 80mm x 110mm Trilobite 32mm

Fossil Site: Wheeler Shale Formation, House Range, Millard County, Utah


This is a rare trilobite from the Wheeler shale, and most unusual in that it is the first Alokistocarid the experienced collector had discovered with bite, ostensibly from Anomalocaris.
