Order Plecoptera appeared in the Permian, is highly diverse and includes insects that go by the common name of stoneflies. Some 1600 extant species of Plecoptera are known. The adult does not live long after mating. Plecoptera life cycle is dominated by a period as aquatic nymphs that are important predators, and also significant prey. | ||
